Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Wu Guangrong Attends Uganda Crude Oil Naming Ceremony at Kingfisher Oil Field

On September 2, Ambassador Wu Guangrong visited Kingfisher Oil Field to attend the Uganda crude oil naming ceremony. H.E. President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, accompanied by Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja and several Cabinet members, attended the ceremony. Counselor Wang Jianxun of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, Mr. Liu Xiangdong, President of CNOOC Uganda Limited, and others were also present.

Ambassador Wu said in his remarks that the forthcoming commencement of production at the Kingfisher Oil Field represents another important achievement in the friendly cooperation between China and Uganda. It will open a new chapter in Ugandas history, as the country joins the ranks of oil-producing and exporting nations, and provide a strong impetus to its economic and social development. China will continue to uphold the principles of mutual benefit and common development, work together with Uganda to deepen practical cooperation, and ensure that more cooperation outcomes bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples.

President Museveni expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding strong support for Uganda’s economic and social development, noting that the imminent commissioning of the Kingfisher Oil Field Project marks an important milestone in Uganda’s national development. Uganda will seize this opportunity to further advance its industrial transformation and modernization drive.
